Take Over 2025
Take Over is SAW’s annual programme showcasing emerging artists, as part of our commitment to support up and coming talent. Join us for three unique exhibitions by artists Connie Gaunt, Andy Davy & Rachael Dee Brien. Each exhibition will include a SAW Reflects event, which is an informal artist’s discussion over a bowl of soup.
Exhibitions Open: Tuesday – Thursday, 11am – 4pm and Saturday, 1pm – 4pm

SAW Reflects: 11 February // 6.30pm – 8pm
An exhibition exploring the psychological imprint of fear on the body, focusing on how an environment and the experiences there can have a lasting impact. Combining video, sound, written text and printmaking, the work draws upon the artist’s uncomfortable experiences as a young woman in Newcastle.

“They were always the backbone of farming: invisible within the statistics, but the ones who kept the business afloat, the paperwork complete and the show on the road. Now, as farms pass from father to daughter or husband to widow, they’re rising out of the shadows and into the figures.” –Bella Bathurst
Documentary photography exploring the everyday challenges of living on a remote farm. Working with children who live on farms, the photographs were produced collaboratively to allow them to show their own lived experiences.
Parallel Play in Red and Blue
Rachel Dee Brian // 12 March 2025 – 26 March 2025
SAW Reflects: 25 February // 6.30pm – 8pm
A body of work produced during a self-imposed Artist Residency in Motherhood (ARIM). Through a visual language, the identities of artist and mother are separated with the former responding to the latter’s experiences with and around small children.
