Painting For Fun Short Film

Painting For Fun Short Film

This short film was co-created by Painting for Fun members and filmmaker Ben Holden, showing a snapshot of the Painting for Fun group and its positive impact on creative confidence and wellbeing.

During the co-creation process, participants worked together to develop the film, including planning, capturing footage, writing poetry and making editing decisions together. The result is a snapshot of the group’s individual stories and creativity, and an exploration of the community they form through painting and exhibiting together. The film demonstrates the healing power of the arts and resting through communal, creative activity.

The filmmaking workshops and resulting film were commissioned by Shieldfield Art Works and was produced as part of SAW’s Creating Fallow programme which explores rest, creativity and sabbath.

This film was shaped and developed by members of Painting for Fun, including Barney Rookwood, Catie Eliza Raikes, Chris, Elinoah Eitani, Forough, Hyde Chan, Jed, Jones Chan, Leila Shayan, Lillian Read, Rachel Richman, Sally-Anne Cooper, Sami, Stephanie, Teresa, and Val Middleton.
